It's time to adjust the gambit that people in all situations commonly use when reporting results to a supervisor: What do you want first, the good news or the bad? The formula that more aptly applies to the latest indicator of America's economic predicament is: What do you want first, the bad news or the even worse news?

Have you ever wondered why things have been going so badly for the United States in recent years? Our economy is falling apart, we have been plagued with heat, drought and endless natural disasters, our cities are absolutely crumbling, we just keep getting involved in even more wars and Americans are more anxious and more overweight than ever before. So why are so many bad things happening to America?

Why do we lead the world in so many bad categories? Why does nothing seem to be going right? Are we under some kind of a curse? It is almost as if we have entered a “perfect storm” that just keeps getting worse. In the old days it would seem like something bad would happen to the United States every once in a while, but now massive problems seem to be hitting us in rapid fire fashion. At this point, many Americans have “crisis fatigue” because our problems never seem to end. Each new crisis just seems to overlap with all of the other problems that are still going on. So why is this happening, and what is our country going to look like if our problems continue to multiply at this rate?

The following are some of the bad things that are happening to America right now….

Heat And Drought

This summer, thousands of new high temperature records have been set all over the country, and weather conditions are much drier than normal in most of the nation.

It took five full days and Romney making it the centerpiece of his speech on Tuesday before the first network mention - by Peter Alexander on Tuesday evening’s NBC Nightly News. In fact, Obama’s soundbite was ran exactly once, in the aforementioned Alexander report. Neither CBS or ABC ran Obama’s actual quote.

However, when former New Hampshire Governor John Sununu, on Tuesday, said he wished Obama "would learn how to be an American" NBC jumped to report the story on the very same day on that evening’s Nightly News. CBS got to the Sununu remark on Wednesday’s This Morning. ABC’s World News and Good Morning America have yet to mention the Sununu statement.

For those of us who are willing to really make a difference. Could we perhaps get together here (and maybe also on other similar websites or somehow) and find journalists of our stripe who are willing to go to work for mainstream media organizations and quietly begin to change those companies. To change them to start reporting ALL the facts and the issues - not just the distractions that are reported now that take the public's mind off major issues (e.g. a candidate did something in high school, the president's change of mind about same-sex marriage, etc. rather than lack of jobs, energy policy, and other MAJOR issues). Anyone know where we could find such people? [Maybe the guy who just left Fox is really going to do that? Hope springs eternal ]

Another possibility is, if any of us have the bucks to put together a PAC, not to necessarily support a candidate, but to put out ads and press releases that tell the truth, that might be another approach. If an industry group advertises for drilling on public lands or says that corporations pass taxes on to consumers for instance, many of the public might just shine it off as big business but if an independent organization with a nondescript name (perhaps "Independent Voters for Truth") says it, that might make a difference.

It seems that conservative politicians are baited into conversations away from major issues and seem clueless about what's happening. Unless people like us get together and somehow get the facts out, the Progressive/Socialist drum beat is eventually going to wear down our Constitution even more until people like Justice Ginsberg eventually persuade the American people that the South African style constitution of "positive liberties" is a good idea. It might take more than a generation but we've been headed in that direction for over 50 - 70 years and if you want to cook a frog all you have to do is gradually raise the temperature until it's too late.

We are already dangerously close to the tipping point. The time for continuing to preach to the choir is pretty much over. LET'S GET BUSY ! Or as one famous person (who?) said: Let's s___ or get off the pot. Any ideas?

Western countries have been pushing for a resolution that threatens sanctions against the regime of President Bashar al-Assad if government forces don't stop attacks.

However, Russia has opposed any international effort that would blame, punish or change the leadership of the Syrian government. Russia and China have vetoed two previous draft resolutions in the U.N. Security Council, leading to accusations that Russia is protecting the Syrian regime.
